Average Salary and Career Data

Salaries for nurses with master’s degrees depend largely on where the nurses work, and in what role. Administrators tend to earn more than shift nurses, and certain regions have higher median salaries than others. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has a great deal of salary data for nurses and other health professionals. Graduates can find employment in several different sectors including: hospitals, private or independent practices, health departments, birthing centers, community organizations, assisted living facilities and wellness centers.

Job Duties of a Registered Nurse with an MSN

Job duties for RNs who have completed their MSN degrees vary based on specialization. For example an MSN with a specialization in women’s health will spend their time providing prenatal/postpartum care for expecting mothers, OB-GYN annual checkups, family planning education, health assessments, and fertility treatment, while an MSN with a specialization in healthcare management examines various human resource challenges that an organization is facing and develops long-range planning including budgeting analysis, reporting, and providing future budget and planning projections.
